AXE AND ABBEY ARTISANS

We are Sydney based and create a range of beautiful items for you.

Looking for something special to add to your home or garden; or

Looking for that special gift that has character and creates visual interest.

My garden art starting out by using a CNC (computer numerical control) plasma cutter that uses automated software to control the fabrication process of cutting steel. The machine uses a super-heated substance that is ejected from the cutting torch to slice through the metal. With the use of computer program can design shapes, taken across to the CNC and cut, then cleaned with some grinding work and then its ready for display.

Initially the CNC was for my husband’s projects, and I assisted with the computer design side of things, but as I became more comfortable using decided to start experimenting with different projects.

Starting with small metal phone stands, tablet stands, then moving to garden range – flowers, animal silhouettes, wall art.

The latest introduction to our range is sculptures shapes. Emu Birds – Two designs which have been named as Henry and Pricilla.

Also, dragonfly shapes on long stand which just move slightly in the wind and look wonderful in the garden. The next shape to accompany this range is the bee.

The pedestal range has circular steel form decorated and on a stand that can be placed outside or inside.

Roses Circle has galvanized hand hammer roses displayed. The contrast of colours with the galvanized roses staying the dusty silver colour in contrast to the rusty circle.

The next in the pedestal range is a circular form with a kaleidoscope of butterflies forming the circle.

 

My Hammered Metal Roses were entered into the Edcon Steel Projects Competition. A lovely surprise to be a Runner-up in this competition.

“I love making things, and I started out by making a full-size butcher-block style kitchen island out of old timber trimmed with hand-forged steel handles and steel pipe for an old-fashioned tea towel rack. Other items Made where boot racks with timber seat, some metal umbrella stands and timber platters.
